
(1925-2016) – Educator
Eric Casson was born in England in 1925 and immigrated to the United States in 1928. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Army and was called to active duty in 1943. He was assigned to the 20th Armored Division at Camp Campbell, Kentucky, and eventually served overseas in the European Theater of Operations. Upon discharge he graduated from Indiana University with a degree in education, followed by his first teaching position in Akron, IN, in 1950. His WLCSC career began in 1954 when he was hired as a high school social studies teacher. His administrative career began in 1956 when he became the assistant principal at the WLHS and then the principal from 1958-1988. He retired after serving as acting superintendent from 1988-1989. Dr. Casson received his M.S. from IU in 1955 and his PhD from Purdue in 1972. He was beloved by all for his ability to listen and to act fairly.
