Go All In for West Lafayette Teachers and Students: Giving Tuesday 2025

This GIVING TUESDAY, the West Lafayette Schools Education Foundation is asking for your assistance with two initiatives: one that is new, and one that is tried and true. I hope that you’ll take a few minutes to read about the new Student Enrichment Fund, and also about the growth of the Foundation’s Teacher Grant program. Both initiatives speak volumes about what is important to Red Devils: showing care for one another and the value of excellence in classroom teaching and learning.

Matching Gift Opportunity: NEW! Student Enrichment Fund

Many West Lafayette students strive for academic excellence. This includes a large number of students who take multiple Advanced Placement (AP) Exams each spring. While there is no charge for the first two exams, the cost rises significantly for those who take more than two AP exams.  A thoughtful family in our school community expressed concern for students who may have difficulty paying the fees for AP Exams.

This family is matching up to $1,000 to cover the AP Exam fees for West Lafayette students who are enrolled in the free/reduced lunch program, which amounts to $2,014.

We have already received $550 towards this matching gift challenge! To assist students with AP Exam fees, the Foundation created a new ‘Student Enrichment Fund.’ Beyond AP Exam fees, contributions to the Student Enrichment Fund will also assist with school field trip fees for West Lafayette families who need assistance.

Teacher Grants: Your Gift Will Enhance Classroom Learning

The last two years, the West Lafayette Schools Education Foundation has received record numbers of teacher grant proposals. And, wow! West Lafayette is fortunate to have creative and innovative teachers in the classroom. Requests for funds has exceeded the Foundation’s budgeted $8,000 annually. In the 2024-2025 school year, WLSEF funded $12,484.50 in grants. This represents 13 unique requests fulfilled.

Just last week, the Teacher Grant committee awarded over $11,200 to fund eleven unique classroom projects. From reviving The Scarlette to STEM building manipulatives to teaching children with autism water safety, an impressive list of projects will be funded for this first grant cycle of the school year.

And the Foundation wants to provide a second round of grants in the spring semester but your assistance is needed.

Please consider a gift to the Foundation’s Teacher Grant fund on this Giving Tuesday. Your gift will have a direct impact on West Lafayette students through the ingenuity of West Lafayette teachers.
