The Foundation Board of Directors would like to thank our individual, group, and corporate donors who supported the Student Technology Instructional Commons project. The commons area has often been featured in important events at West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School throughout the last three years.
The commons project began after a safety audit of the high school determined that locker bays in that area needed to be relocated. After the audit, the school corporation decided that the Student Technology Instructional Commons project should be undertaken, and the Foundation sought funds to help support the expenses of the project. The commons was created for purpose of providing a central location for student gatherings, educational opportunities, and technology integration into the school day.
In reviewing articles from the West Lafayette High School student newspaper, The Scarlette, it is clear that every student that attends West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School has and will continue to make memories in the commons area. Nervous but excited seventh graders wait with anticipation of their first “non-school lunch” in the Grab n’Go lunch line. Sophomores sit hunched over the benches quickly studying for their first period exams. And Seniors, eager to test their academic strength, pose animatedly for photographs after graduation. The commons contributes to the Red Devil Pride that makes West Lafayette schools so unique.
