A great example of a world-class educational experience, the West Lafayette varsity football team capped a perfect ’09 season with a 24-10 victory over Evansville Memorial in the class 3A state championship in Lucas Oil Stadium.
Adding to the legacy of exemplary student-athletes, quarterback Daniel Wodicka led the Red Devils not only to victory, but earned the prestigious Eskew Mental Attitude Award by the IHSAA.
A wide receiver at Johns Hopkins University, Wodicka was honored for his scholastic aptitude, community service, leadership and athleticism.
Other recent West Side honors include:
- Recognition for best overall academic performance in Indiana by Business Week Magazine
- A silver medal from US News & World Report
- Four-Star School Award from the Indiana Department of Education
